This page is for when Day Tripper does not do what it should. It is written for someone who is stuck right now, so the fastest answers are first.
Contact us
Email jonah@battlecreek.work. A person reads it. We aim to reply within two business days, and we will tell you if something is going to take longer.
It helps to include what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. If the app showed an error message, the exact wording of it is worth more than a description of it.
You cannot sign in
Signing in is handled by Kinde, an identity provider, and it is the only way into the app — there is no guest mode. You type your email address, then your password.
- You have forgotten your password — use the reset link on the password screen. Kinde emails you a code, and the code lets you choose a new password.
- You signed up before 22 September 2026 — sign-in used to be a code sent to your email, so you have never chosen a password. Use the reset link on the password screen to set one; your account and everything in it are unchanged.
- An email from us has not arrived — check your spam folder. Codes for new accounts and password resets come from Kinde rather than from us, so they may be filtered separately from mail you have received from this address before. Codes expire, so if you ask for another one, use the newest email, not an earlier one.
- The sign-in screen opens and returns you to the start — this is usually a network problem mid-sign-in. Close the app fully, reopen it, and try once more.
- You have more than one email address — an account belongs to the exact address you signed up with. Signing in with a different address creates a different, empty account rather than a second route into your existing one.
- Nothing above works — email us at the address above, telling us the address you signed up with. We can see whether an account exists for it. We can never see your password, because only Kinde holds it — so we cannot tell you what it is, only point you at the reset link.
Your packing list looks wrong
- Something you would never pack — press and hold the line, then Remove from list.
- Something you always pack — press and hold the line, then Always pack this. It joins the kit for that activity, so every future list starts with it.
- Something missing — use Add an item at the bottom of the list.
- The forecast is for the wrong place — open the trip and use Set a location to name the town again, then pick the match you meant.
- Your first list for a new activity looks generic — that is expected. Day Tripper has no history for you yet, so the first list is a starting point; what you pack and what you drop is what makes the next one better.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app: Account → Delete account. It is immediate and it is not reversible.
Deleting removes your kits, your trips, your packing lists, your packing history, your stored weather lookups, and your account record. There is no retention period and no archive.
If you cannot get into the app to do it — because sign-in is the very thing that is broken — email jonah@battlecreek.work from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete the account. We will confirm when it is done.
One thing deletion does not do: your Kinde sign-in continues to exist, because it is held by Kinde rather than by us. If you sign in again you get a new, empty account — not your old one back. To remove the sign-in itself, ask us in the same email.
The full detail of what deletion removes, including what happens to item names you invented that other people's lists now rely on, is in the privacy policy.
Reporting a bug
Email the address above. If the app crashed, telling us roughly when it happened helps us find the corresponding crash report — the app sends crash diagnostics, which the privacy policy describes.
What we cannot help with
We are a small operation and we would rather be straight about the edges. We cannot recover a deleted account, we cannot see or reset your sign-in credentials, and we cannot move data between two accounts created with two different email addresses.
